CCS provides practice experiences for advanced graduate students in training at Emporia State University. Any student providing CCS services has completed preparatory graduate-level counseling coursework before being allowed to provide services. All counselors-in-training are supervised by licensed and experienced counseling faculty.
Counselors are not permitted to work with individuals with whom they are personally acquainted, or to be involved in any observations or discussions regarding clients with whom they are personally acquainted. Because CCS is a training facility, counselors are required to record sessions for faculty supervision. Strict confidentiality guidelines are followed for all client files, recordings, and communications. Documents are kept in locked file cabinets and encrypted digital files. Students are aware that any violation of confidentiality may be grounds for removal from the program.
